On September 13, 2016, the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine released a report about the needs of individuals providing care to a family member with functional limitations, entitled Families Caring For an Aging America. The report “provides an overview of the prevalence and nature of family caregiving of older adults as well as its personal impact on caregivers’ health, economic security, and overall well-being,” and includes recommendations made by an expert committee convened by NASEM.
